Big Words for a Little Boy
This morning Jacob asked me why we had to brush his teeth everyday. I went into this long explanation about how his teeth would start growing black icky stuff and then fall out if we didn't. Ok, so I exaggerated the facts a little, but that is what we mommy's do to get the job done. A little fear goes a long way. He then said, "I am tired of having this conversation about brushing my teeth." SERIOUSLY? I just smiled and then he agreed to this obviously annoying task.

Disrespecting
I asked Jacob to please set the table for dinner and he said "Why don't you set it yourself." OMG!! I was in shock and didn't know what to do at the time so I sent him to time out so that I could calm down and told him that if he disrespected me like that again that he would get a spanking and get a toy taken away. We believe in giving warnings before giving spankings. Where do kids get these things? Jeff and I do not talk to each other or Jacob like that so it is a complete mystery to me.
Not long after that he told me that he had to change his shirt because he got pee on it when he went potty. When I pulled out the shirt from the hamper I did not feel or smell any pee and yes I smelled it. He lied because he wanted to wear his Thomas the Train shirt that Great Nanna bought for him. We now have a new rule. If you are caught lying then you get an automatic spanking and he did get one. I know that some might frown upon this form of discipline and we hardly spank him but there are times that it needs to be done. Continued disrespecting or lying are top on my list of BIG no no's. I believe that if you don't get a control of your kids when they are young, you will never have it. If parenting is easy then you are not doing it right.

Rewind to 2008
Since I took a leave of blogging last year, I will be posting things that were missed during that time.
As you know, Jacob goes to Mothers Day Out twice a week. It has been such a great program for him and it gives me the much needed time to myself. I try to fit all of my doctor and hair appointments into those days to make them as stress free as possible. In October of last year, the fire department came and they got to see the fire trucks and the ambulances. Unfortunately, at the time that his class got to see the fire truck they had an emergency call and had to go. It was pretty exciting to for them to hear the sirens though. Jacob LOVES all vehicles, especially ones with lights and sirens so I went to his school to witness this excitment.

"GET DRESSED RIGHT NOW!!"
WHY OH WHY does my son have to take 30 mintues to get dressed in the morning? I set his clothes out and tell him to get dressed and every 2 minutes I yell from the other room "GET DRESSED RIGHT NOW!!!" Then I hear him yell "I am" when I know he hasn't. I think that what he really hears is "Jacob, please go in your room and get out all of your toys and if you happen to find time to put your clothes on then fine." SERIOUSLY?! I get so frustrated over the smallest things sometimes but come on...when they happen everyday I just want to scream.. This natural disaster happens at lunch time too. Every day I have to tell him to eat instead of play around, don't spit your abc (already ben chewed) food you don't like onto my plate and please stop blowing bubbles into your milk cup. Then it is the discussion about him taking a nap and that if he doesn't then we all know he will turn into a three headed monster come about 4:00 that afternoon. Oh the joys! I know I sound like I am in a bad mood right now and I am. My house is a cluttered mess with too many projects going at one time and not enough time in the day to make a dent in just one. When my house is a mess so am I. SOMEBODY HELP ME!
